Features:

Grade 23 titanium forging is mainly used for skull repair, bone grafting and other aspects, which has higher requirements for its strength, fatigue life, plasticity and so on. Grade 23 alloy is a kind of α-β type two-phase titanium alloy with moderate strength, containing 6% Al and 4% V. Compared with Grade 5 alloy, Grade 23 alloy has lower content of interstitial elements C, O, N and impurity element Fe. Although the strength is reduced, the fracture toughness can be significantly improved. Chemical requirement of it is：5.5≤Al≤6.5%；3.5≤V≤4.5%N≤0.03%；C≤0.08%；H≤0.0125%；Fe≤0.25%；O≤0.13；Grade 23 titanium alloy is an ideal material for medical surgical implants because of its good biocompatibility, low elastic modulus, low density, good corrosion resistance, non-toxic, high yield strength, long fatigue life, large plasticity at room temperature, easy to form and other advantages.

Main materials:

The main raw materials used to prepare 6Al-4V titanium alloy are sponge titanium and alloying elements, including aluminum vanadium alloy, aluminum bean, ferro-titanium and titanium dioxide. First step is mixing the titanium sponge and pressing the electrode. Then vacuum plasma welding box is used to weld the electrode to ensure there is no inclusion and external pollution risk. The next step is going through three times VAR melting to obtain high clean and uniform ingot. It is obtained by multiple forging processes using 5000T High-speed forging equipment.

Application:

Grade 23 titanium forging has good plasticity, toughness, good welding performance and low temperature performance, which is widely used in cryogenic engineering, medical, ships and aircraft and other important fields. Due to the poor thermal conductivity and high chemical activity of Grade 23 titanium alloy, the temperature of the tool tip during cutting is higher, which is easy to cause tool wear.So the tool material and processing parameters should be selected reasonably. Chlorinated coolant can prolong tool life and improve machining surface quality. As the development of ion implantation, plasma spraying, electroless plating, ion plating, PVD, CVD, micro-arc oxidation, technology, laser deposition technology, Grade 23 titanium surface can form the wear-resisting, corrosion resistant ceramic coatings, which can improve the surface wear resistance and corrosion resistance.It can also prevent the release of V and Al ions of titanium alloy in physiological environment, and further improve the biocompatibility of the material.
