What is ASTM B348 Titanium Bar

Titanium’s chemical symbol is Ti which is a metallic chemical element. It is characterized by light weight, high strength and metallic luster. Titanium is considered a rare metal because of dispersing in nature and difficult to extract. But it is relatively abundant, ranking tenth among all elements. Titanium ore which are mainly ilmenite and rutile are widely distributed in the earth's crust and lithosphere. Titanium is present in almost all organisms, rocks, water bodies and soil as well. The most common compound for titanium is titanium dioxide, which can be used to make white pigments. Other compounds include titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4), used as a catalyst, and titanium trichloride (TiCl3) which use to catalyze the production of polypropylene.

Manufacturing process

First of all, mixing the titanium sponge and pressing the electrode. The next step is welding the electrode by vacuum plasma welding box to make sure there is no inclusion and external pollution risk. Then, going through several times VAR melting to obtain high clean and uniform ingot. After that the 5000T High-speed forging equipment is used for several times forging process with large deformation to effectively break the grain. Lastly, Titanium Bar are obtained by rolling or extrusion.
