Ti-1023 titanium forging has a series of advantages such as high specific strength, good fracture toughness, large quenched cross section, small anisotropy, low forging temperature and strong resistance to stress corrosion, which can meet the design requirements of high reliability and low manufacturing cost. Its nominal component is Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al.

Uses:

Ti-1023 titanium forging is used in the solution aging state, the maximum depth of penetration is 125mm, especially suitable for the manufacture of isothermal die forgings and hot die forgings. Ti-1023 titanium alloy is recommended for aircraft fuselage, wing and landing gear structures instead of structural steels such as 30CrMnSiA at the same strength level, which can reduce structural weight by about 40%, replacing Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy can reduce the weight of the structure by about 20%.Compared with α and α-β type titanium alloys, Ti-1023 titanium alloy has a greater affinity for hydrogen. Therefore, when theTi-1023 titanium alloy is operated under environmental conditions where large amounts of hydrogen are likely to be produced, surface modification must be carried out to prevent hydrogen addition. Ti-1023 titanium alloy contains high segregation element iron (2wt%), and the iron content in different parts of large size ingot fluctuates greatly, which leads to the difference of β phase transition point. In addition, the deformation resistance of Ti-1023 titanium alloy is large, the forging permeability of large stock is poor. As well as the deformation temperature rise is easy to occur during forging, which all lead to the nonuniform microstructure and poor consistency of properties of it.

The manufacturing process is:

after mixing the titanium sponge and intermediate alloy, the electrode is pressed. Then vacuum plasma welding box is used to weld the electrode. The next step is carrying out three times VAR melting to obtain high uniform ingot. After that the 5000T High-speed forging equipment is used for several times forging process to obtain the Ti-1023 titanium forging.

It has been successfully applied in landing gear, beam, frame, joint and many other large load-bearing structural parts of foreign aircraft, such as the rotating shaft bearing housing and flap slide of Boeing 757 aircraft, the wing engine short bay joint of Boeing 737 aircraft, the landing gear of Boeing 777 aircraft, the landing gear of Airbus A380, Among them, A380 landing gear ti-1023 titanium alloy forgings up to 3210kg. Ultrasonic test is in accordance with AMS 2631 & AMS STD-2154.
