Ti-6242 titanium forging has high mechanical strength, weldability, high temperature stability and creep resistance up to 500-550°C.It has high strength, high toughness and good creep resistance. Ti-6242 alloy has good corrosion resistance, however, it is sensitive to thermo salt stress corrosion, and there is delayed fracture of cracked specimens in saline solution at room temperature. This alloy is less sensitive to hot salt stress corrosion than Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-811 and GR 6 alloys. Ti-6242 is a kind of high temperature near α -type titanium alloy with high creep resistance developed by The United States in 1974. Its nominal composition is Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-0.08Si.It contains α -stable element Al, neutral elements Sn and Zir, isomorphic β -stable element Mo, eutectoid β -stable element Si. Mo can improve tensile strength at room temperature and high temperature and enhance stability. The combined action of Al, Sn and Zr can maintain the high temperature strength of creep for a long time. The addition of Si can induce precipitation of dispersion phase of silicide, which is beneficial to improve the creep strength at high temperature.

Main materials:

The main raw materials used to prepare Ti-6242 titanium alloy are sponge titanium and aluminum-molybdenum alloy, titanium-tin alloy, sponge zirconium and titanium-silicon alloy. First step is mixing the titanium sponge and pressing the electrode. Then vacuum plasma welding box is used to weld the electrode to ensure there is no inclusion and external pollution risk. The next step is going through three times VAR melting to obtain high clean and uniform ingot.The Ti-6242 Titanium Forging is obtained by several forging processes using 5000T High-speed forging equipment.

Uses:

Ti-6242 titanium forging is used for long-term load-carrying applications at temperatures up to 420℃ and for short-term load-carrying applications at temperatures up to 565℃. It is mainly used to make fan disk, compressor disk, blade and casing of aero-engine. With the increasing amount of titanium used in large aircraft engineering, the size and weight of titanium forgings for aircraft are increasing as Oems are required to produce engines with higher bypass ratios to improve aircraft fuel economy and reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution.
