Grade 5 titanium forging possess the advantages of lightweight, high strength, and corrosion resistant. XRUN offers a wide range of titanium forging sizes across different grades. Grade 5 alloy is a kind of α-β type two-phase titanium alloy with moderate strength, containing 6% α stable element Al and 4% β stable element V. The main semi-finished products of Grade 5 titanium alloy are bars, forgings, thick plates, sheets, profiles and wires, etc.It is mainly used in the annealed state, and can also be strengthened by solution aging treatment. However, the quenched depth generally does not exceed 25mm. The thermal conductivity of Grade 5 titanium alloy is low. The thermal conductivity of titanium alloy is 1/5 of iron and 1/10 of aluminum, and the thermal conductivity of Grade 5 titanium alloy is 7.955W/m·K. The elastic modulus of titanium alloy is low. The elastic modulus of Grade 5 titanium alloy 110GPa, is about 1/2 of that of steel, so it is easy to produce deformation during the processing of titanium alloy.

Production Process：

With the increase of oxygen content, the tensile strength of Grade 5 titanium forging increases obviously, while the tensile plasticity and fracture toughness decrease sharply. High oxygen content will lead to poor welding performance. Therefore, the oxygen content should be controlled in a low range under the premise of ensuring the intensity level. In particular, Grade 5 alloy with W (O)≤0.13% should be selected for various containers working at low temperatures. Grade 5 alloy has good process plasticity and superplasticity and is suitable for various pressure machining. The alloy can also be welded and machined in various ways.Grade 5 titanium alloy is heated for a long time below 430℃, forming a thin and protective oxide film. With the increase of heating temperature, the oxide film becomes thicker and the protective effect becomes worse. After heating at 700℃ for 2h, the thickness of oxide film reaches 25μm. Low temperature heating at temperatures above 800°C results in the formation of a sparse oxide layer. After heating at 1000℃ for 1 hour, the thickness of oxide layer reaches 0.65mm. When it is annealed, the holding time depends on the thickness of the section. When the section thickness is less than 10mm, the pressure holding time is not more than 30min; 30-60min for 11-50mm; When it is larger than 50mm, it is 1-2h.

Application:

The Grade 5 alloy has excellent comprehensive properties and is widely used in the aerospace industry. In particular, Grade 5 can work at 400℃ for a long time, so the Grade 5 titanium forging is mainly used to manufacture aircraft structural parts, engine discs and blades.Ultrasonic test is in accordance with AMS 2631 & AMS STD-2154.
