Features

Titanium Beta 21S Forging is a very developed metastable β alloy ，its nominal composition is Ti-15Mo-3Al-2.7Nb-0.25Si.The alloy has more Mo element, rather than V, greatly improve the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. Beta 21S alloy has good cold rolled and cold forming performance similar with Ti-15-3.This alloy can achieve high strength alloy after aging, and has a good welding performance, high temperature oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance. So it is an ideal material of aircraft structures, such as aircraft hydraulic system, fuel tank, foil with titanium matrix composites matrix and the chemical and petroleum industry. The research results show that the β grains of the Beta 21S alloy grow obviously with the increase of solution temperature. The strength of the alloy in solution state decreases slightly and the plasticity increases gradually. After solution + aging treatment, a large number of secondary α-phase particles are precipitated uniformly at β grain boundaries and inside grains, and the strength increases, while the plasticity decreases obviously. After solution at 770 ~ 830℃, Beta 21S titanium alloy has high strength and excellent plasticity. After aging at 520℃, the comprehensive performance is excellent, the tensile strength is more than 1300 MPa, the elongation is more than 15%, and the reduction of area is more than 55%.

Main materials

The main raw materials used to prepare Beta 21S titanium alloy are sponge titanium and aluminum-molybdenum alloy, titanium-tin alloy, sponge zirconium and titanium-silicon alloy. First step is mixing the titanium sponge and pressing the electrode. Then vacuum plasma welding box is used to weld the electrode to ensure there is no inclusion and external pollution risk. The next step is going through three times VAR melting to obtain high clean and uniform ingot.The Titanium Beta 21S Forging is obtained by several forging processes using 5000T High-speed forging equipment.

Application

Titanium Beta 21S forging can be used in the state of solution treatment and solution aging condition, through different aging treatment, the alloy can achieve the different strength and plastic matching, meet high structural strength, the design requirements of high reliability, working temperature of β21S titanium alloy is 200 ℃ under solution state, working temperature can reach 550 ℃ under solution and aging condition.The β21S alloy is most useful for applications above 290℃, with thermal stability up to 625℃ and creep resistance compatable to Ti-6Al-4V. Developing commercial applications in forgings include aerospace components and prosthetic devices.Ultrasonic test is in accordance with AMS 2631 & AMS STD-2154.
