Features
Titanium Grade 17 Forging has strong corrosion resistance in more media, especially in neutral and oxidizing media.It can also be used in some dilute acid, such as room temperature until the boiling point of various concentrations of nitric acid. It has good corrosion resistance to most alkali solutions, such as barium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide saturated solutions at room temperature, but not for boiling sodium hydroxide solutions. Titanium Grade 17 is completely resistant to corrosion in seawater and is also resistant to most organic acids (except formic acid and oxalic acid). It has excellent corrosion resistance in wet chlorine gas and chlorite, hypochlorite and other chloride solutions. The corrosion resistance in sodium chloride solution increased with the increase of solution pH. Titanium Grade 17 contains 0.04 to 0.08% palladium which is slightly lower than that of Grade 11 with minimum 240Mpa. Compared with Grade 16 alloy,Grade 17 has lower content of interstitial elements C, O, N and impurity element Fe. It has good ductility and cold formability, as well as strong corrosion resistant.Compared with pure titanium, the corrosion resistance of Gr 17 titanium alloy in NaCl solution shows that the hydrogen absorption and corrosion free zone are significantly enlarged, while the corrosion zone is significantly reduced. The crevice corrosion resistance of Gr17 titanium alloy is obviously better than that of pure titanium.
Main materials
The main raw materials of prepare Grade 17 titanium alloy are sponge titanium and palladium powder. After mixing the titanium sponge and intermediate alloy, the electrode is pressed. Then using vacuum plasma welding box to weld the electrode to make sure there is no inclusion and external pollution risk.The Grade 17 ingot was produced by two times VAR melting . The titanium Grade 17 forging is obtained by multiple forging processes using 5000T High-speed forging equipment with large deformation to effectively break the grain.
Application
Titanium Grade 17 forging is widely used in reactors, towers, autoclave, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, centrifuges, separators, pipes, fittings and electrolytic cells etc. In addition it is also widely used in etroleum industry and pharmaceutical fields.Ultrasonic test is to be done with AMS 2631 & AMS STD-2154.
